Congratulations to Cosby's latest County Champion Carolyn Walley (affectionately known as "Caz").
Caz won the Leicestershire & Rutland Ladies County Championship on Sunday 9th May at Rothley Park winning 1 up after an exciting 36 hole final. In all Caz played over 142 holes of golf between Wednesday and Sunday - a feat in itself. She played and won for the Club's Scratch team on Wednesday evening, had a practice round at Rothley on the Thursday, 36 holes of strokeplay on Friday, 36 holes of match Saturday and 36 holes of matchplay Sunday!! She took some notable "scalps" along the way, including the then current Ladies county captain Jo Morris (having been 4 down at one point in the match). A happy band of Cosby followers supported her in the final and it was a very emotional moment when she sunk the putt on the 18th green to win 1 up. She hit a fabulous shot into the par 4 17th to go one up, which was a deciding moment in the match. Club Gemma Parkes carried Saturday afternoon and all day on Sunday and dad Nick watched every hole and encouraged her all the way. Both Caz and Gemma have now been chosen for the Ladies County 1st Team in the Inter-County Week in June - Well done girls, the Club is very proud of you.
